Story behind the song
This is an interesting point of view of the characters in Lullaby, from the guy who's supposed to stop ANYONE from rescuing the Auburn Maiden.
Lyrics
It’s hard for conversation Upon the realization That I destroyed six whole lives Just to become who I am At this very moment I have a last opponent And the sword he’s holding in his hand Is what I’m now retrieving See, I’m legacy The sword’s inheritor The Seven Sokudo Is mine and only mine for the taking It’s really heart-breaking But this is destiny That I should take these swords and use them For whatever purpose That I deem necessary But now it’s necessary That I retrieve this sword from the previous owner Who’ll be no longer And now we start our duel I charge him, I’m more agile He gives me looks of grimace And as my sword swings free He takes one look at me And now it’s never never I pry the sword free from his hand He needs it no longer I leave the area holding The seventh Sword of Wanderers And now as sunset comes My thoughts meander everywhere Wanderer Is fate what keeps me going? What can I show for it? Rest your weary arms Am I a genuine monster? Can I call myself human? Vagabond Am I so cold-hearted? Is there some deeper purpose? Please be safe from harm These are the streets of Tokyo And through the eyes of this man We see incessant bloodshed He is a born assassin What is his motive though? To retrieve the Seven Sokudo? There must be a greater reason for this But he hasn’t seen it Born an orphan child Raised up in the worst of places Trained to kill at four Your death at five paces He became a mercenary When he was only thirteen And now he’s twenty one See all the bad he’s done? But his recent string of battles Comes from his family And the tradition of the seven swords That holds his destiny He knows this much for credit His one and only mission Is to protect the auburn maiden from attempts of rescue So now he collects his weapons And readies himself for battle Which could take his own life But to which he’s surrendered He doesn’t see a choice there He needs to, wants to protect her As simple as that And now he heads for the obsidian tower (chorus) What is this thing I’m feeling It is as though my mission’s failed But that’s impossible It’s highly improbable That he who was fated for the rescue Could have come so early I need to think about this But what is happening? The obsidian’s tower’s crumbling But that could only mean That the auburn maiden Has finally found her rescuer I fall to my knees My soul starts to bleed Why wasn’t I there to protect her From the destined hero? Am I a failure? I’ve got to stop this thinking I have to let myself let go And change my plan’s objectives No longer for the tower But for the rescuer I will meet him in person If for the first and last time I’ll hound your hiding places I’ll track your very paces I won’t stop looking ‘til I’ve found you And I’ve hunted you down Let destinies intertwine And let my death be fated My swords are clean and ready Let’s start this final showdown (chorus twice, then fade)
