The idea is that music doesn't always have to have a deep message. Sometimes it's just fun to play upbeat music and listen to nonsensical little stories. And shake yo bootay.

Story behind the song
This started out as the simple idea to write a song that was about pillows, somehow. Originally I intended to write a story about some evil scientist who wants to steal all the pillows from the children of the world (because that's just what scientists do). Soon I switched to the idea of a sorta ambient groove lullaby, about the pillow equivalent of the toothfaery. The idea of a magical train or semi truck that came crashing into bedrooms appealed to me originally, and I'm not sure why I switched to a magical pillow monkey instead. Perhaps it was just easier to write at the time, with that change. Much of the lyrical content was written while washing dishes at work.
Lyrics
[refrain] You need to get a pillow To put your tooth under So you can get some money To buy yourself a pillow You just lost a tooth Because it was loose How will the Toothfaery find it if you don't have a pillow You need to buy one and you know that's the truth Your piggy bank's gone dry Checking account's run dry The penalty's too high to pay for your Roth IRA So make a wish on the stars in the sky [chorus] Muriel the Magical Pillow Monkey She comes at night when kids are in bed Muriel the Magical Pillow Monkey So close your eyes now sleepy head Muriel the Magical Pillow Monkey She comes at night when kids are in bed Muriel the Magical Pillow Monkey She'll leave a pillow under your head [refrain] [chorus] [refrain, fade out]
