This song is dedicated to the armed forces, the fallen soldiers, their families and loved ones.
It's a Trio, Me, Myself and I
Story behind the song
Seeing all the controversy about being in Iraq, I thought of the soldiers and what they are going through. They need our support no matter what. This is dedicated to the armed forces, the fallen soldiers, their families and loved ones.
Lyrics
A Soldier’s Life
(Jim Russ)
Standing on a corner with your gun in hand
Your eyes are searching and you got to stay alert
Knowing you’re a target in a hostile land
Yesterday three soldiers died and two were seriously hurt
Try not to think about that well good luck with that
(Chorus)
It’s a soldier’s life they’re living, unnerving and unforgiving
Everyday soldiers are dying while American flags are flying
It’s a job to them and they do it, everyday is hell getting through it
Well they do it for honor and country
That includes their loved ones and you and me
That ought to make you think, that ought to help you see
Driving in a convoy middle of the day
Insurgents up ahead with another car bomb
They hit one truck blew a soldier away
A son now a folded flag wet with the tears of a mom
Try not to think about that well good luck with that
(Bridge)
Pros and Cons from the media helping people take sides
Veterans from the past know what it’s like when people take sides
Following orders now, trying to do the right thing
Have to keep going somehow, see what tomorrow will bring
(Chorus)
It’s a soldier’s life they’re living, unnerving and unforgiving
Everyday soldiers are dying while American flags are flying
It’s a job to them and they do it, everyday is hell getting through it
Well they do it for honor and country
That includes their loved ones and you and me
That ought to make you think, that ought to help you see
That ought to make you think, that ought to help you see
