Story behind the song
Forever Sing Amazing Grace was inspired by a dream I had of my wife. She has an eating disorder and at one time was not very well. Though her name is not Grace, in my dream I saw myself and our four children standing at her grave side, arm in arm, singing Amazing Grace. I wrote the song the next day and kept it hid from her until she got better. She was reluctant at first but we both agreed it was a good song, so she is singing harmony on it. My wife Donna is the love of my life. I could not live with out her. I thank the Lord for making her well again, even though she does have to be careful eating with her disorder.
Lyrics
Grace and I were wed in sixty-nine We believed our wedding vows were divine. Many years we sang our special song of love 'And raised our children on the word of God above. With these eighteen wheels and the daily chores of life. I didn't see the failing health of my dear wife How she was losing strength and her body turning thin. And there were hospitals and specialists, time and time again. Three long years ofhopes and prayers to no avail. Grace just smiled and said, " You know it's the Fathers will" And in His arms her loving soul now does belong. And some day again we'll sing our special song. But till then I'll sing Amazing Grace, On this hill, her resting place. If I could on-ly see her face, and feel her tender , warm embrace. Her memory, time won't erase. I'll forever sing Amazing Grace.
