Howdy. The Franchise played at ye Cat of Blackness August 16, 2005. A splendid time was had by all. Click on "music," above, to download MP3s from the show. About the recording: There was an MXL pencil condenser next to one of the PA speakers, pointed vaguely at the hi-hat. Said microphone was run to an ART tube preamp, and the mono output of said preamp was run into a Tascam Portastudio MFP-01. The resulting cassette was played back through a dbx compressor to smooth it out. Some EQ was added to correct for muddiness. But otherwise, the files here are live and raw--innocent of effects processing, pitch correction, overdubs, or other tweaking. The vocals are a little quiet in the mix, but then, from what we heard, the vocals were quiet in the room as well. Unfortunately, the tape ended during a song and I didn't think to flip the tape until a few songs later. So "Rorschach" and "Marty's Lament" are missing, and "Vorlon" is incomplete. Which is a shame, because it was a good rendition. That is all. I hope you like it. For lyrics and other info see .
