Lyrics
I remember when I first started, at age fifteen,
I was only a kid, with big dreams,
Writing rhymes in my notebook, just about everyday,
Thought I was so damn cool, in every way,
Then I picked up a mic, and started flowing to beats,
It was second nature to me, like knowing to eat,
Knew I was going to be, one hell of an emcee,
Who would’ve thought it, kid coming from LC,
I had to prove myself, no it wasn’t easy,
Cause the kids at school, they would always tease me,
Driven by my will, I had to prove them wrong,
So I finished up a track, and released my first song,
The initial reactions, felt like a melt down,
I was let down, but still I couldn’t put the pen down,
People still mocked me, and I was bound to flop see,
But outta nowhere, some of my friends propped me,
And that was all I needed, it made me more than pleased it,
Was my first, bit of proof, that I had succeeded,
They been supporters of me, ever since day one,
When I was so close to stopping, I almost gave up, 10
But if it wasn’t meant to be, I would’ve stopped from the get go,
But I was born for this, my mom said so,
She always pushed me, said I had musical talent,
Tried the clarinet, guitar, but yall know how that went,
It wasn’t my thing, just didn’t feel right,
That’s why I’m on the mic, and why I still write,
Helps me organize my thoughts, and express myself freely,
No need to be fake, on the mic, I’m free to be me,
Forever in my heart, the beat will always ride on,
Without paper, I got my memory to write on,
Never gunna stop, yo, I gotta keep on going,
Like the blood inside my body, the words’ll keep flowing,
