Since their fated meeting through a classified ad in the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Blake Ryan and Elise Bellew have been a prolific songwriting team, working meticulously to create their own unique sound and style of vibey alternative pop/rock. Although The Mary Dream has a dreamy melodic sound all their own, their music appeals to fans of The Sundays, Sixpence None The Richer, Sarah McLachlan, Heather Nova, Mazzy Star, Natalie Merchant, etc.
From a profound dream Elise had one night that changed her life forever comes the name The Mary Dream. Elise's velvety voice and impactful lyrics join together with Blake's tasteful chords and unique guitar layerings to create some of the most moving, yet melodic alternative pop/rock emerging today.
After traveling around the country, and writing and recording in San Francisco, San Diego, and Tampa, Blake & Elise have finally settled in Nashville and have quickly become part of the fast-emerging indie rock scene. Beautiful World is The Mary Dream's first, official, full-length release and was recorded almost entirely at home by Blake and Elise, except for the drum tracks, which were recorded by top Nashville session drummer Steve Brewster (Jewel, Faith Hill, etc.). The CD was mixed and mastered by producer Richie Biggs (Switchfoot, Nichole Nordeman, Sam Ashworth, etc.) at The Art House in Nashville.
Beautiful World is a collection of 11 bittersweet and compelling songs that are dreamy and melodic. From the optimistic title track Beautiful World, to the hauntingly beautiful Say My Name, this CD is a stunning introduction of The Mary Dream to the world. This music is a must for people who are seeking to be moved in a deep and genuine way.
The Mary Dream currently plays live in Nashville with a full band. Blake & Elise have also begun recording tracks for their next CD. The song "How You Love Me" from the Beautiful World CD was recently featured on ABC's All My Children.
