Story behind the song
This one was inspired by "Brother Bob" and my wifes sister. They've since settled in Arizona... I guess the song worked.
Lyrics
COMIN' HOME On the road for 3 weeks now, comin' close, but, never home California to Chicago, 2 day lay-over in Arizona It isn't hard on a single man, 'cause, that was me a year ago Now I've found someone to love and my heart's based in Ohio It's gonna be awhile... 'til I put these long hauls to bed It's gonna be awhile... 'til we pull ourselves out of the red (Then I’m) Comin' Home, never to leave again Comin' Home, my travelin' days will have reached the end Counting the days 'til I never have to leave you again I'll take it on the chin, cherish each moment 'til then “Breaker - Breaker” Now tonight I'm sittin' in Tennessee, while I've got family in Texas Then I'm just passin' through, seems like my schedule never flexes Livin' the life often told, criss-cross American Peter Built diseased Circlin' the wagons 'round the one I love, trying to make so many ends meet (But, then I’m) Comin' Home, never to leave again Comin' Home, my travelin' days will have reached the end Counting the days 'til I never have to leave you again I'll take it on the chin, cherish each moment 'til then When I hold you in my arms they're weary from the road When I'm strong enough to love you dispatch hollers, “another hot load” -Lead Break- (But, then I'm Comin' Home) For the very last time I won't sleep where I've made my bed (Sleep where I've made my bed) 'Cause, I know the sun still shines (it’s still shinin’) With this load we'll be ahead Then I'm Comin' Home...
