Story behind the song
A song slightly influenced by Angela Carter's short piece of the same name. Formerly titled, "This is nothing. Disregard." Kind of like an older sister to "Want" and "Lust" off When Desires Collide. Besides questioning whether is desire is right or wrong, the song also questions sanity and depression. Melodically simple, but with unexpected sharps. Kind of slow, pensive, with a rift that sounds like the major/minor chord changes in James Horner's score to A Beautiful Mind.
Lyrics
Why do these thoughts come to me When they don't make sense? Why do I constantly Lose myself In this madness? Maybe this is my solace Maybe this is all I know But it's all Just A figment Of my mind If it came, would I think That it was wrong? Eating up my flesh Like a monster And the ribbons tangle Twist into nothingness This is all Just A game That consumes Like a wolf The signals that make Red Riding Hood run And the figure is blue Nearing purple and green But then it turns Into nothingness.
