CHUNKY KUSTARD Newquay, Englands Best Surf Rock Band. Check 'Em out!
Chunky Kustard originated in the summer of 1998 when Dave Moss (Guitar/Keyboards) and Nick Cook (Bass) met working at Hendra holiday resort in Newquay. They soon got together and started playing some of their favorite covers. The rest of the band emerged with the arrival of Brynn 'Jazzy B' Williams (lead guitar), followed by Gaz (Vocals/guitar) who joined the band after being spotted singing on an open mike night in Newquay and late as ever Martin 'la Casa' Dean was last to join on drums. Encouraged by a positive live response to the Surf-Pop-Rock songs they had begun to write, Chunky Kustard hastily dropped the covers in their set and concentrated on original material. The band's spiritual home is Fistral Beach, the world famous surfing beach in Newquay, Cornwall. With strong ties to the local surfing community, they have built up a sizeable following in the local area. Indeed, tracks from their first CD were used on a surfing film called 'Made in Britain'. Their second CD The Fistral Beach EP' was featured on 'Fistral Sessions' DVD and professional surfer Russell Winters promotional DVD. Chunky Kustards influences are many and varied and include Sly and Robbie, Prince Buster, Madness and Sublime among others. A sound that is lively, original and above all, danceable, has emerged that complements witty and powerful lyrics covering both light hearted and serious issues. All of CKs songs are based on things that have actually happened. The title track on their New CD 'SchoolRuns and Supermarkets' is a hilarious take on day to day life in Newquay whereas 'So Unkind' looks at how our children should be encouraged to look after the earth better than we have. Another example is 'My Girlfriend's got a Girlfriend Too' but maybe we'd better leave that to your imagination. The release of their 3rd EP 'School Runs & Supermarkets' together with numerous gigs and festival appearances in 2005 confirm that Chunky Kustard are riding a wave that will bring even greater exposure and success. Why not catch one of their energetic and passionate live performances and see where that wave takes you.

Story behind the song
This song is all about living in Newquay. The things we like, don't like. Things we see and do. Things that go on around us. Welcome to Newquay.
Lyrics
Schoolruns and supermarkets Spending loads with emptey pockets Put it on the never never Drag yourself in debt forever Now daddies going back to work To cover up his dodgy work Theres berry road traffic lights Who has got the copyrights? The copyrights The copyrights Pricing jobs i'll never get Teaching Kirra the alphabet There's boy racers at the 24 hour Checking out their max-power Now Co-op carpark was made for skating Berties nightclub's made for mating If you've got the time i'll come and meet you Don't you bring the inland revenue The revenue The revenue You have got to help me Find my own identity There must be another way Help me now before i turn gay Help me now before i turn gay I turn gay, Hey, NO! Theres shopping trolleys in my garden Stop saying what say pardon Speed bumps are growing everywhere Who wants to be a millionare? The flowerey shirt and the baggy pants I'm waxing up when i get the chance Theres two minutes left in the microwave Heres your dinner now you better behave You better behave You better behave Washing up in my belfast sink Its too late your the weakest link Travel brochures on the floor I want to be a foriegn visitor The closest place i'll ever get Is down the bookies for a bet Chalkies heart has been sewn back on The ugly duckling turned into a swan Into a swan Into a swan You have got to help me Find my own identity There must be another way Help me now before i turn gay Help me now before i turn gay I turn gay, Hey, NO
