Story behind the song
I wrote this one in response to the passing of the millenium without the return of any messiah. Basically, in the debate between christians and agnostics, the christian ends up relying on beliefs without proofs. I did it with a sort of Lou Reed attitude, although he himself rarely offers such direct opinions and i dont know his religious stance.

christians Believe, The Wise Know Spoken: Sound theories make falsifiable statements; modern religion refuses to accept this challenge 1000 years of idiocy we call the dark ages all brought to you by christian saints and sages christians lack knowledge of what was lost you'd think it was their brains nailed to that cross they just want to believe Spoken: Without any understanding of the tenets of faith, the christian never realizes that he shields himself from reality with blind hope Filled with doubt and ignorant of their past the christian apologist is falling fast their thoughts lack any semblence of clarity but then it takes ignorance to believe this insanity they just want to believe Spoken: It was Nietzsche that pointed out that to the christian, science was the first sin, the original sin: "Thou Shall Not Know"
