Alone in her room, singing to every song on the radio, calling it "her song”, grabbing anything within reach to use as a microphone, Jene was a high energy / high impact performance waiting to happen. A native of Houston, Texas, she began to write songs at the age of 10. "Slow Down" was the title of her very first song. She would put on private concerts when there was no one around and even talk to the audience. She would join her first girl group at the age of 12. With the girls, she did talent shows and recorded a few songs.
Fast forward twenty years. She hooks up with, Stikk, a producer looking for a soul artist. She records a couple of songs, but he sees the songs just don’t quite work. As they sit in the studio talking, a song comes on the radio, which happened to be on a Rock station. Jene begins belting out the tune. The producer hears the passion in her voice and the light bulb illuminates over his head. “What kind of music did you grow up listening to?’ he asked intently. “Everything” she said, “but I LOVE Rock-n-Roll, especially the 80’s stuff, even though I was only a little girl at the time.” With that statement, they found they were on common ground. The vision became crystal clear.
With their 80’s sensibilities prominent, Jene and Stikk create a retro-futuristic soundscape; a combination of the low end funk of days past and the crunching guitars of the present, catapulting her into the future, singing of the joys of love found, the pain of love lost, and continually being a student of life’s lessons. In penning songs that deal with issues ranging from fun to fury, Jene finds ways to keep the atmosphere positive without sacrificing the gritty attitude of Rock and Roll.
Persistently, Jene has pressed towards a career in entertainment, writing and singing her way to realizing her dream...
