A wronged lover recounts the circustances that led him to shoot his fiancee and best friend as he sits in the electric chair waiting to meet his maker.
Lyrics
One by One (male version) Verse 1 This was to be the big day in my life I was to take her as my wife This was to be the last day of pretend But she messed it all with my best friend Verse 2 He promised me that he’d take care of things Like flowers and cars and weddin’ rings But when they met he turned her pretty head And I found them both in my bed Chorus I didn’t mean to kill them there and then I don’t remember reaching for my gun But they both laughed when they saw my tears So I shot them one by one Verse 3 I went on trial and the judge he said to me “I realise you couldn’t take no more But I can’t believe that you could be so cruel As to leave them lyin’ dyin’ on the floor”. Verse 4 This was to be the big day in my life I was to take her as my wife But instead, I’m sitting in this chair Waitin’ for it all to end right here Chorus End One by one (repeat 3 times) © 1999 Laurence Wright, 10 Ivyale Drive, Leigh, WN7 2TF, England Tel +44 (0)1942 602349 e-mail: wrightmusic@blueyonder.co.uk Web: http://www.wright4310.freeserve.co.uk
