What does a can of Dr. Pepper, a sled duct-taped to a skateboard, and a soul-eating guitar solo have in common? Together they are the ass-kicking entity known as Julio's Western Boots. Julio's Western Boots (pronounced Hoo’-lee-oh, for all you uncultured Cretans) started as a joke-band, playing cheesy punk covers and goofy metal songs but has since become a children-scarring beast. We've brought all musical styles to the table, evolving and becoming more musical. Our new, slightly more serious sound, includes bits and pieces of punk, metal, grunge, blues, funk, and rock. The main goal of our music is to have fun writing and performing music. We hope to bring this enjoyment to our listeners. You can't take our music too seriously. Lighten up. Have fun. Enjoy the music. Julio's Western Boots is: Brendan LaRoque: guitars, vocals Kyle Blanchette: drums, vocals Andrew Leach: bass, vocals Update (8 July 2005): Julio's Face-Rocking Revolution...the Revolution Begins has been completed. Check out these three tracks in the music sections. They're pretty cool, methinks. Update (27 June 2005): Check out the demo version of one of our newest tunes "One More Time" in the music section. The final cuts of the tracks for the demo should be done and pressed very shortly. We decided to name the demo "Julio's Face-Rocking Revolution: The Revolution Begins...". Yeah, it's probably the longest name for a demo ever created by a band made of people whose names are Brendan, Kyle and Andrew and who are from New Hampshire. Check it out and of course, feel free to comment, good or bad, on the message board or just shoot us an email. Thanks for your support. Update (16 May 2005): We had our first practice since March tonight and it was great. Brendan brought over some more unmixed tracks for the new cd and they sound awesome. It shouldn't be much longer... also, some shows will be played this summer. Come out and support the Boots. Update (27 March 2005): Holy crap! We have demo versions of two of the new tunes for the record up. These recordings have not been mixed down (read: they will sound better in the end) and they have no vocals yet. You can listen to them and see if you're going to dig the new record though. Album artwork is in the making now too. The record should kick ass. Update (9 March 2005): Still working on the record. It's a long process. We've taken a lot of time off, with our school/work schedules getting pretty busy around the holidays. The record should be done sometime this Spring. Hopefully, several shows in the Manchester/Boston areas will be scheduled for the summer (barring approval to rock faces by the club promoters). The record will be packed with Julio's originals. Several songs have been nixed. Only the best will make it onto the record. Right now, seven tunes are set to be on the record. An eighth, and extremely kick-ass tune will be played live as it was not completed on time to start recording. Check the audio section in the future. I've got a really shitty bootleg garage recording (read: more punk-rock than your mom's Hoover) I'll try to get uploaded asap. Peace out Boots Land. Update (11 March 2005): Holy crap, we just wrote another song. We are incredibly excited about the new material. A bootleg (read: wicked ghetto) version of both songs has just been added to the site. Check 'em out. They're perfect examples of the new sound of Julio's Western Boots. Ignore the crappy quality. It was recorded with the internal microphone of an mp3 player in the next room. Special thanks to Pat Mullen for letting us take his drum kit to use for rehearsals and special thanks to Chinese bamboo for helping us break into Kyle's car after he locked the keys inside. It verrrry strong, Chinese Bamboo.
