Story behind the song
One day I was just sitting at my friend's house and started finger-picking the main riff.. It was one of those rare magical moments when music, melody, and lyrics came to my head instantly. I sat there writing the lyrics down on the back of a flyer, being quite anti-social, but it's worth it for a song. I usually don't like explaining my lyrics too much... I like to leave them open for interpretation; but the general idea of this song is about leaving what you know behind.. abandoning your narrow scope of "reality" and becoming a much happier person as a result. By the way, many people tell me that this song reminds them of The Shins. I wouldn't disagree. Why deny my influences?
