Watercress Thieves are currently a songwriting partnership made up of Malcolm Shipp & James Levan both from the South West of England. We have played together for many years and started writing semi-seriously in 2005, had to take a break whilst I lived overseas but now as of December 2007 we are working on a heap of new songs and planning to put together a full on Folk band in the new year 2008. So if you are into folk and play an acoustic instrument then do get in touch, multi instrumentalists with vocal abilities are the most welcome!

Story behind the song
The line "If you're speaking your mind, lets talk about the way in which you find" just popped into my head with a melody and from there it just turned in to a rant about an ex wife.
Lyrics
TRANSPARENT Life wasn’t so bad When I made the most of whatever I had So I didn’t need you to Come into my life and tell me what to do If you’re trying to change me Well you can try and I’ll say goodbye I’ll be the way that you found me So don’t you surround me or I’ll make you cry Chorus If you’re speaking your mind Lets talk about the way in which you find Me irritating and frustrating And maybe we’ll talk it out You’re not letting me in And your excuses are so thin I see right through you, it’s apparent You’re transparent, you’re transparent I told you before see If you ignore me, I’ll walk out the door You said you could have drowned me Or you could have crowned me, I called you a whore It could be maybe too late to Go to relate to get this to work I’d rather go to the pub, why? Than having you rub my face in the dirt Chorus If you’re speaking your mind Lets talk about the way in which you find Me irritating and frustrating And maybe we’ll talk it out You’re not letting me in And your excuses are so thin I see right through you, it’s apparent You’re transparent, you’re transparent I’m taking a stand, I’m being a man And walking away You can go it alone, be on your own What do you say, hey hey Repeat Chorus, sharp ending! © Copyright Shipp/Levan May 2005
