Story behind the song
This song has a traditional Russian flavor: I used poetry of Sergey Esenin, one of the greatest Russian poets from the beginning of the last century. The verse is about the Poet who's walking along the countryside, all dressed up and enjoying the view and himself. He sees some peasants cutting grass and they challenge him to "get down to earth" and join them in their work. The hell with the nice suit, says the Poet as he joins the farmers. Now I'm writing poems on the grass, he thinks to himself, poems that cows and sheep will read ...
