In Africa, the Lioness was named Thandiwe. An expression of her inner, and true self. Sharing that truth demanded poetic expression.
Lyrics
It is only through the recognition
of myself in you
that we prove the truism’s relevancy
that the reflection of the All
in the expression of individuality
manifests the old dichotomy
of me and you,
of us vs. them of enemy
and friend…
…through our differences
our essences are revealed
through your beauty
my eternal fate is sealed
through words the Holy Verb
is heard
the all-seeing eye awakened
our paradigms shaken
destinies, reserved.
I’m dreaming of you
again
envisioning your eyes and
the soul that lies behind them
made out of pure light
your inner vision a sublime
delight to behold.
To exist in the same world
you inhabit is to recognize
the time,
shared emotion space to find,
and realizing the blessing of your
friendship, I approximate
the most divine crime
and I,
a criminal, enact the subliminal
to see God through you,
it is in everything you do,
write and say,
God bless the day that we met
our paths set, into the future
we stride,
within the arms of God’s grace
we reside.
Poetry hardly seems enough
to express the depths of feeling
you evoke
the shared journey through life
with its trials and tribulations
we grow
slowly learning our lessons
recognizing our blessings
and perhaps the time we’ve spent
the love we’ve shared
is only an expression of God revered
a shared commitment to the Light
we find shining in each other’s
eyes.
And yet, after all, it is no surprise.
You, Thandiwe, are one of the few,
who are
really and truly
True.
