Hi I'm Jeff. Nice to meet you.
Story behind the song
This piece was inspired musically by Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" album and is similar in style enough to almost be an homage to Nick. There's really no subtlty to the content of the song. It's written in the first person as an expression of love with a desire to be freed of the burden of feeling the unrequited love. Intertwined with this desire to forget this love is an unwillingness to let go of the memories of qualities that developed the love in the first place. Quite a dilemna!
Lyrics
I wish I didn't love you anymore but I do.
I'm reminded every night because I dream about you.
Try as I might I just can't break through.
Because when you smile your eyes light up like the skies as bright as sunrise honey you're too good to be true.
Too Good to be true
Too good to be true.
Everybody knows every word I say.
Is meant for you to make you look my way.
I guess our love will wait another day.
But I love your hair and that green dress you wear I don't mean to stare honey your too good to be true.
Too good to be true
Too good to be true
I wish I didn't love you anymore but I do.
I'm reminded every night because I dream about you.
Try as I might I just can't break through.
Because when you smile your eyes light up like the skies as bright as sunrise and I love your hair and that green dress you wear I don't mean to stare honey you're too good to be true.
Too good to be true
Too godd to be true.
