Mahala in the Snow - rough sketch
A song I wrote about my daughter, Mahala, as she was out playing in the snow one day.
Beanfield Castle - what a crop of acoustic and more!
I'm actually my own band :) I sequence music to accompany myself, usually with me playing an acoustic instrument and singing for the final mix.
Story behind the song
One day this past winter, Mahala was outside playing in the snow. It had been quite humid, and the frost crystals were about an inch long! The sun was shining on it, making it glitter, and she was just exploring - shaking the frost off the trees and making it snow, and just so full of life and learning, and this song really just burst forth. This is a rough sketch, that I'm working on to flesh out. I'm singing in one ear, and my Taylor K14ce is in the other ear.
Lyrics
A clear blue sky, got a twinkle in your eye,
Wrapped up tight in your coat, boots and gloves.
It’s frigid out there in the sparkling air,
But you’ve got a warm heart full of love.
You’re a learnin’ and a growin’,
And girl, don’t you know it’s
Gonna be fine ride bein’ you.
Jesus in your heart,
What a grand way to start
On the journey that will become you.
The frost on the trees is thicker than leaves,
You shake it off, making it snow.
How it glitters and shines – I’m so glad you’re mine,
Though it’s only a short while, I know.
You’re a learnin’ and a growin’,
And girl, don’t you know it’s
Gonna be fine ride bein’ you.
Jesus in your heart,
What a grand way to start
On the journey that will become you.
Instrumental verse
You’re a learnin’ and a growin’,
And girl, don’t you know it’s
Gonna be fine ride bein’ you.
Jesus in your heart,
What a grand way to start
On the journey that will become you.
And you know the Lord will see you through
On the journey that will become you.
