Prayer and Blessing (Tom and Josh's song)
A song I wrote for my sons Tom and Josh, for their dedication.
Beanfield Castle - what a crop of acoustic and more!
I'm actually my own band :) I sequence music to accompany myself, usually with me playing an acoustic instrument and singing for the final mix.
Story behind the song
This song is one that I wrote for my sons Tom and Josh for their dedication at church. The first part is a poem that my friend Jeannie Glady wrote for Tom when he was born. The second part is a "barocha" or "blessing" from Numbers 6:24, and I've sung it to all my kids at bedtime from birth right up to the present. For this recording, I'm playing my Taylor 812, a Susato low D whistle, and then my Soodlum D whistle. This is the tape that I made for the actual dedication. I am currently re-working the song to make a better recording, but I will always cherish this one because of Mahala's bit at the beginning.
Lyrics
This baby is mine Lord, entrusted to me
To mold him and make him to be what he’ll be.
So tiny, so fragile, yet all in my care.
Help me raise him to love You,
Lord, this is my prayer.
The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And give you peace,
And give you peace,
And give you peace forever.
The Lord be gracious to you,
The Lord turn His face toward you,
And give you peace,
And give you peace,
And give you peace forever.
And give you peace,
And give you peace,
And give you peace forever.
