This is the song that I wrote for my son Aaron's dedication. He was born 6.5 weeks prematurely, but he was so perfectly made, and he developed so rapidly, that I couldn't help but marvel at how fearfully and wonderfully made he is by God.
Beanfield Castle - what a crop of acoustic and more!
I'm actually my own band :) I sequence music to accompany myself, usually with me playing an acoustic instrument and singing for the final mix.
Story behind the song
My son Aaron was born 6.5 weeks prematurely. Yet, when I saw him right after he was born, the words of Psalm 139 were the first thing that came to mind. This passage, coupled with the fact that we are made in God's image (imago Dei), were the inspiration for this song.
Lyrics
Wet dark hair clinging to your head,
Big bright eyes gazing ‘round.
Little chest heaving, breathing in the air,
Legs kicking out, up and down.
Well it was love at first sight when I held you that night,
Such perfection in such tiny form.
I could feel so much of God’s wondrous touch
In your fresh skin, soft and warm.
For you are fearfully and wonderfully made
In the image of God.
A mighty miracle in fragile flesh,
Sent from Him with love.
He knew the days He’d counted out for you
Even before there was one,
And He’ll carry you in the palm of His hand
Through them all, my son.
Your frame was laid, you were skillfully made
By God, Who spoke and made the world.
Though no eye could see how you came to be,
Each perfected part He unfurled.
For you are fearfully and wonderfully made
In the image of God.
A mighty miracle in fragile flesh,
Sent from Him with love.
Now some will say that there is no way
They’d believe in God – they are fools.
For the proof is clear, and Aaron it’s near
As the miracle of you.
For you are fearfully and wonderfully made
In the image of God.
A mighty miracle in fragile flesh,
Sent from Him with love.
For you are fearfully and wonderfully made
In the image of God.
A mighty miracle in fragile flesh,
Sent from Him with love.
You are a mighty miracle in fragile flesh,
You were sent from God with love.
