Lyrics
Streets In The City Living on the streets in the city waiting for the pennies to drop Sleeping on her own throne doorstep opposite the pizza stop Her clothes are all tattered she’s battered and worn On the streets in the city where she knows she can’t fall Standing in a line every midnight waiting for the soup to roll in Swapping smelly clothes for some lighters found in a recycle bin Her eyes are all bloodshot her finger nails brown On the streets in the city where she knows she won’t drown No cell phone to carry, no credit card bill No long days out shopping for wardrobes to fill No plans for tomorrow, just like yesterday On the streets in the city where she chooses to stay She walks a million miles every morning, picking up old dog ends to smoke Working up a thirst like an engine, quenches with a half drunk bloke Her armpits are sticky her breath wants a mint On the streets in the city where she knows every inch No cell phone to carry no credit card bill No long days out shopping for wardrobes to fill No plans for tomorrow just like yesterday On the streets in the city where she chooses to stay No cell phone to carry no credit card bill No long days out shopping for wardrobes to fill No plans for tomorrow just like yesterday On the streets in the city where she chooses to stay
