Edgy tune about spiritual warefare
A diverse Christian Rock band whose musical influences reflect everything from Waylon Jennings to Jimi Hendrix to the Clash.
"O come let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation." Psalm 95:1 This verse and others like it in scripture that refer to "joyful noise" have been in a way very liberating to me. I've always had a passion for music, but not necessarily the kind of music that you would associate with God or church. I believe however that the passions in all of our hearts are placed there by an inerrant God. In scripture it is clear that God is much more interested in the heart of the person offering up the joyful noise to him, than he is in how talented, structured or appropriate the noise may be. As kind of a jack of all trades and master of none musically (especially vocals), I have been emboldned by the work of God in my heart and by some open minded and loving friends at church to pursue the passion for musical creativity that God has let lie dormant in me for a long time. My hope is that this site can be a sort of trail of bread crumbs along whatever path the Lord leads me down. Thanks also to www.psalm149.com and all the members there. It's a terrific site for learning to songwrite and record at home.

Story behind the song
Inspired by a quote in a John Eldredge book describing a small knight that hacks his way through some thugs holding a crowd of peasants back from the castle gates. Somehow I just couldn't shake the image or the feelings it provoked.
Lyrics
LONESOME HERO Bob August © 2005 V1 A lonesome hero surrounded by his foes There’s only one way out for him he knows Got to put on the armor that he’s been given Pick up a sword and start head splittin’ Chorus Cause Christ came to die Christ came to rise And we’re here to take a stand for His side The price that he paid was just too high You’ve got to lose your life to save your soul V2 A lonesome hero hangs upon a cross There’s no giving back all that He’s lost Loving the world in our transgressions Doing the will of Him who sent Him Giving up His life to save us all Chorus Bridge God has not given us a spirit of fear Not for our convenience did He send Jesus here He’s equipped us to fight back To find new life within Get back to the image he created us in
