Story behind the song
It's about a tramway-tour in Vienna. You hear moaning people crawling in, the bell, the breaks squeal, people are pushing and barging. I am sitting looking out the window and don't care. I hear a lady's voice, a man's voice replying rudely. A short stop, then the tour continues... *** Die Idee ist waehrend einer Straßenbahnfahrt in Wien entstanden. Es beginnt mit dem Zusteigen der Fahrgaeste, die murren und matschkern. Dann geht es los, die Straßenbahn faehrt und haelt in einer Station. Man hoert die Bremsen quietschen. Kaum sind die Tueren geschlossen, geht es weiter. Mit Gebimmel faehrt die Straßenbahn. Nun kommt es zu Draengeleien, es wird gestoßen und gerempelt. Unbeirrt faehrt die Straßenbahn weiter ihrem Ziel entgegen. Ich sitze und das Gedraenge kuemmert mich nicht. Ich hoere eine zarte Frauenstimme und eine etwas agressive Antwort, das geht zweimal hin und her. Aber, wei gesagt, es kuemmert mich nicht. Dann erfolgt wieder eine Vollbremsung und der Zug haelt in einer Station. Der Aufenthalt ist nur kurz, dann geht es schon weiter. Es wurde bewußt auf die Einbeziehung echter Straßenbahn-Geraeusche verzichtet, selbst die Bimmel ist ein synthetischer Klang.
