Lyrics
[verb]
i paint the picture perfect,
get my suit on and proceed to my sermon
im a preacher and i do so in earnest
not to people, but there's words at my service
they are with me when the situations dire
so it's safe to say that i preach to the choir
yes we are one, and i am God's son
gave me an army, i use them long as i got lungs
me and these sentences connect in ways
to send messages to bless the stage
or express the rage
that develops when the devil sends stress my way
with intentions to test my brain
but i'm honor roll, plus i gotta go
the father is upon us, yo we on the road
a lotta obstacles, but we travel slow
unravel gray matter until the color shows
and when it does, i spread em on the palette
show 'em to the people, tell 'em they can have it
hell if they can manage, to paint it on the canvas
delve into wells til questions have been answered
quell the opposition and be the masters
of their own destiny, it would be a blessing
to be somebody and not just the best mc
to not feel like the world is testing me
we defined as ill like infections
society treats us like a deadly disease
so i don't spit sick, i spit medicine
mixed with liquid truth for the betterment
of citizens in the suburbs or tenements
this is penicillin that was made from the elements
so bear witness, go and tell and friend
about the medicine that was made from the elements
[illnis]
i paint the picutre perfect
with the words at my service
build some courage, to get rid of the ticks
in my nervous system
i got an urge to listen
no 2 stories are heard the same
each person interprets the message
in different directions, so its more personal
so the purpose of my flow is
to emmerse the soul
encourage growth
raise your head high
purgatory means nothing when you raise from the dead
ive seen many things, but ive heard a lot more
folklore and poems pose the question
and at the same time solve it
i feel like a poet standing in the eye of a moshpit
the untarnished target
and as the masses collapse
i fight back til they lose their will
theyll never know, theyre my human shield
their struggles and anger fuel my stagger
so its only correct, i got pride in my stride, you can check my steps
i stress my message with heart
so even if its censored, you can remember the lessons taught
begin to repent my thoughts, grab a pencil
put the instrumental on and then commence
to dispense all the mental anguish
my ancestors walked the planet, so ill never rest on my feet
as long as i can walk, ill chase our dreams
with the belief,
til science uncovers the meaning of why we dream
they'll never understand the reason why we sing
