Story behind the song

In 1998 I worked for a summer at a Christian youth camp, and wrote songs to help the kids learn their memory verses.  One of the verses was Acts 4:12-- "Salvation is found on no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."  My version is this catchy little tune.

Nobody else can get you to heaven,
No other things or possessions can save,
Only through putting our whole trust in Jesus,
That’s the one way that the Father gave.

Now suppose you’ve got some money,
And you’ve got an awful lot.
Though it may seem kind of funny,
It can’t save you--it can not.
For you cannot buy salvation, 
Whatever they may say,
It is God’s free gift through Jesus,
And He’s the only way.
