Story behind the song

The Deep Unrest is the sleep of nightmares and visions. I recently had an experience brought on by a new drug I was perscribed to take at bedtime only. The doctor warned me at the last minute as I readied to leave - this may cause vivid dreams, dreams with lasting effects. So be prepared... Well I had forgotten his words. This tune is an attempt to put into sound my experience that first night. I rarely dream out of this world, but this night it was like an Native American folk tale... I was on a different planet. A planet of dark age. It was brown and dull and shifted like molten clay. I was standing outside the walls of a building best discribed as a castle - when someone began speaking into my mind. The voice was telling me of a great event. An event to forever change the planet. I walked alone, but still conversed with the voice inside my head. I entered the castle and it opened to an area that faced the shores of an ocean. The story is continued in the lyrics page...

Lyrics

Standing at water's edge I was amazed at it's texture - it was thick and heavy. The voice spoke in head telling me the Light has decided to seduce this planet and will soon make her presents known. It was then A face appeared to me - shape shifted from the stones of the wall. A hand flowed out of the rock and pointed in direction. A waving belt of light emerged in the dark sky wiggling in mid air like a snake of energy. It stopped about the mountain cliffs in the distance. It then twisted and knotted in the horizon like a brilliant atom shapped object of fiber optic beauty. The light pulsed and grew stronger and faster and slowly climbed the sky - until it evolved into a Sun. It was too bright to look at it directly as it electrified the planet. Everything was shifting and changing. New shapes and colors emerged from the old. The waters now bright blue and electric. The walls of the castle became more vibrant. Like a planet of clay - everything began to merge into one texture. I found myself sinking into the shore where I stood. I was frightened. I thought I would surely die, but I began to float. It was thick and supported me. You could feel the warmth and something like static energy around you. The new relationship with the Sun was astounding. Travel was easy - if I walked or moved slowly. Fast motion was absorbed and resisted. I waded out into the ocean and drifted about the castle walls. Walls that now provided no protection unless something was traveling fast or falling from the sky. Anything slow and persistant could flow through the castle at any point. I remember seeing others there exploring in wonder. I was walking my way across the ocean towards the mountain cliffs when I awoke. I remembered feeling the power in everything around me. The feeling of thickness existed for at least an hour after I awoke. My hands felt bloated and my body felt like it expected to be supported by the air. This was an experience.
