I've been calling it "drug-addled garage punk" style.

All the good things that being a bitch can bring.
After eight years in a tiny town in Idaho, ten more years in a small religious town in northern Arizona, one severe mental breakdown (and one small one), and a whole bunch of weird yet somehow fun stuff in-between, Orin needed to bust out. But pay no attention to her, she's just the one behind the real start--Nightshade, a Fender Stratocaster with a winning bitch attitude that almost rivals Orin's. Alright, so people who write about themselves in the third person are kinda creepy. But what more do you want from me? A website? Okay. Stop by http://www.sephain.com for a fun time... or something. There's always more info and music at http://www.geocities.com/wickedorinmusic/orinmusic.html as well.

Story behind the song
I'd set out to give it a bit of a "garage punk band meets up for the first time and starts playing without so much as practicing first" feel... and I suppose I should be somewhat ashamed of how well I seem to have achieved my goal. I'm damn proud of it, though. If you knew it as intimately as I do, you'd know why. This song is old--in fact, the only one older is "Soldiers in the Rain", and that's by a couple of days at most. It's one of the first I ever recorded on the old 4-track tape recorder (since deceased), and that was... a really different version. I do still have it, actually. The first drum you hear is another free MIDI downloaded drum loop, only... "fixed". The second is a beat of my own composition that I didn't think would work with the song at all; but me, I try things. I was going to add a third guitar near-ish the end with the fewer words and all, but... didn't feel right. This is still just a demo, after all. We'll see where it goes in the future.
Lyrics
I need something to lift me up Something to drag me down Something to throw me around I need some sort of life-long fight Some sort of sacred right Something to give me a reason Something to give me a reason I I need something to turn to I need something to live through To turn me inside out I I need some sort of real song I need something to feel strong And I'm feeling that way right now I need something to lift me up Something to drag me down Something to throw me around I need some sort of life-long fight Some sort of sacred right Something to give me a reason I've got this reason And it's nothing that you'll take away Gives me something to live for A reason to drive on Don't have to prove it to you I've got something to lift me up Something to drag me down Something to throw me around I've got some sort of life-long fight Some sort of sacred right Something to give me a reason I've got this reason I've got this reason You can't take it away (I'm strong now I'm strong now)
