Oh God...did I upload my first DnB track? I think I'm getting the fear. This one features a killer melody by someone who actually understands music theory! It's a bit overdriven tho, so watch the EQ ;-)

One guy trying to free the sound trapped in his skull. Trip-Hop, DnB, Trance, and whatever else.
My music is like me. Somewhat out there, kind of dark and moody, and a little different. While I do have tendencies and preferences, generally my music is a result of messing around, trying to put the sounds in my head on my speakers, and discovering something else entirely. Not all tracks are finished, because I'm likely to change something even after I think it's done. So bear with me, and enjoy.

Story behind the song
I was messing around with Buzz one day, trying to figure out how to make a good, distorted hardcore beat w/o drowning out the rest of the song. So I put together a bass loop, and tried in vain to produce that smack-your-head-against-the-wall-180-times-a-minute gabber sound. Then I gave up and forgot it for a while. Then I went to London, had a REALLY good night in the DnB room of FabricLIVE, and developed a taste for that sweet broken beat. I found the loop, touched it up a bit, and stumbled on to the highpass filter sweep, but couldn't think of anything else to go with it. I'd watched a certain movie a LOT recently (at least 20 times), so for kicks, I added a couple samples. And I thought it sounded cool, but I suck at melodies, so I sent it to a friend who knows music theory and stuff for suggestions. I labelled it "lsd" because of the first sample. A surprisingly short time later, he sent it back to me with a tight analogish lead. So I ran with it. First, since he'd used MIDI to make it, I had to figure out the melody by ear and translate it to Buzz, which SUCKED ASS. I didn't butcher it too badly though, only losing a pitch bend, a couple notes, and some elements of the synth sound(eventually, I will take the time to include them, though). After that, I extended the song, added some extra beats, a breakdown, amen breaks, more samples, my own little lead segment (the shorter one, before "We can't stop here..." (i'm so proud of me)), and a short pitch dropping extension to the first lead, and suddenly I had an actual song (or "piece" as Mr. Studnicky would say). I didn't know what mastering even meant back then, and I have good speakers and one of those sound enhancing winamp plugins, so this may sound kinda mono and have a bit too much bass, just to warn you (I intend to remedy this someday). But this still remains one of the best songs I think I've made, and I hope you like it too.
