A fun song about the hospitality of friends...For Brett and Charissa Stamm: thanks for opening your home and your hearts!
Simple songs that I hope will touch the heart of God, and maybe a few other people in the process.
I may never make it to Nashville, and I may never be on the radio, but that's okay. That's not why I do what I do. I do what I do because I understand things best when I get them down in rhyming lines set to music. I do what I do because I believe that my Heavenly Father enjoys the songs that few hear just as much as He enjoys the songs that everyone hears. I do what I do because it's one of the best ways I know how to worship God, encourage friends, and uplift the body of Christ.

Story behind the song
I wrote this song after one Saturday afternoon that I spent with my some friends from church who invited me over to do laundry so I wouldn't have to use the dorm coin-operated laundry room. And I just got to thinking how they embody this passage from Matthew: “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ -Matthew 25:34-40
Lyrics
You asked me over For fellowship and jellybeans You let me wash my clothes for free I stayed for dinner The best meal I’d had in a week And you said, “If you ever need anything Just let us know If you ever need anything” I was hungry And you gave me food to eat I was thirsty And you offered me a drink I was lonely Until you befriended me When I was the least of these You shared your sofa So we could sit and watch t.v. We caught the end of “Dante’s Peak” You even gave me A bag of SweetTart jellybeans And you said, “If you ever need anything Just let us know If you ever need anything” I’m just a college kid Trying to get by To make it on my own But you reminded me I don’t have to go it alone You asked me over For fellowship and jellybeans
