Story behind the song
Saw a program on TV about the North Sea, and wrote a poem about it. Then though it was very inspiring so the song followed. This is a song that if you close your eyes you can see it in your mind.
Lyrics
Lament (poem spoken) She stands on the edge of jagged rocks She cries as the sea gulls cry She weeps of salty tears as are the waters of the sea Her long white gown that once flowed down blows back like a sail all tattered and torn She stands on the edge of a gale to wait for her man to come home (first verse) A sailors wife leads a lonely life But her heart belongs to me But I only a sailor boy, who's heart belongs to the sea (chorus) ooooo are you out there? ooooo can you see me? ooooo can you hear me? ooooo are you there? (second verse) So many men have come and gone, their lives were lost at sea, but for me it's just a way of life and I know she'll wait for me (chorus) ooooo Are you out there? (spoken) (I am here) ooooo Can you see me? ooooo Can you hear me? (spoken) ( I am here) ooooo Are you there? (spoken) (I am here) (third verse) I can hear her soft voice, every time the waves role by and I can hear her soft sighs, when the sea gulls cry And her eyes reflect the night, when the moon dances on the tide But it's only a matter of time. Would I meet a watery grave? (chorus) ooooo Are you out there? (spoken) ( I am here) ooooo Can you see me? ooooo Can you hear me? (spoken) ( I am here) ooooo Are you there? (spoken) ( I am here)
