A tender story of the love between siblings. A real tearjerker...
I actually am not a "band". I am a songwriter who's been lucky enough to run into some phenomenal musicians and composers. The songs you will listen to on this site are my words given life by some of my favorite people and talented friends. I hope you enjoy!!
Story behind the song
After hearing about a brother who had been killed in the line of police duty, it reminded me of my own relationship with my brother and sister and some of the games we played. Coincidentally, the games "we" played and the police officer and his sister played were the same... Blake Hill was kind enough to help with the lyric and the amazing Chris Dasch lent his talents to create the music. Brush Hill Studio in Nashville did a fantastic job maintaining the integrity of the lyrics and original music.
Lyrics
I TOUCHED YOU LAST
Though sister was much older
She made the time for me
Let me go along when she went out
She liked my company
We'd spend hours outside playin'
Our favorite game was tag
Course she was much faster than me
So she would always brag
Chorus:
I touched you last, so playfully
Just a game, we played devotedly
An emotional, her n' me, memory
How we used to laugh, I touched you last
Seasons changed, the years flew by
And Sis discovered boys
At the time I did not understand
Why she traded in our toys
They'd catch me watchin from the stairs,
I'd try to hide my face
She’d mess my hair and kiss my cheek,
As she left, she'd always say
Chorus (Repeat)
We shared so much as time passed by
Then one day she had learned
She had an illness they couldn't cure
But I shouldn't be concerned
And even with her final breath
She tried to comfort me
Reaching with her fragile hand
Stroking mine so tenderly
Changed Chorus:
I touched you last, she said quietly
Just a game, we played devotedly
An emotional, her n' me, memory
How she used to laugh, I touched you last
Epilogue
Etched into her granite stone
Are pieces from our past
Eternally she’ll always win
She touched me last
She still touched me last
