Story behind the song
i was listening to Sunny Day Real Estate & i wanted to write a song with a more complex chord-structure, but all i could come-up with was this. the song is about not wanting to let go of people, even if it needs to be done. the title has to do with what you become (stoic/apathetic) when you shut-down your emotions in order to save yourself from feeling sadness for the rest of your pathetic life. i was originally going to get someone, besides myself, to make the bass line, but i'm glad i didn't because i really like the one i made.
