This is a song written for my mother.
She and cooked dinner for fourteen of us every Thursday.
She did this for years, and one day I realized that it wasn’t going to last forever.

Lyrics
Fourteen
And around the table fourteen people sit
As our shoulders touch I still remember it
Always such a feast, it took her days to make
Weekly celebration for us to take
And in her eyes, there was a shining light so giving and so bright
And in her heart, there was a fullness for her family, her delight
She held a spark, giving service, and her home became the hub
She led her life, and in her 80 years how deeply did she love
We all choose our path, we all must pay our price
No need to compare our pain and sacrafice
Life is bitter sweet, no need to regret
What we choose to give is what we get
And in your life, where ever you may go, may you go with all your heart
And in your eyes, may they hold innocence like a candle in the dark
Day after day, I search to find my way like the calling mourning dove
The question then, when my life must end, how deeply did I love?
Just how deeply did we learn to give our love?
Just how deeply did we love?
Just how deeply did we learn to live our love?
Just how deeply did we love?
And around the table fourteen people sit
As our shoulders touch I still remember it
Always such a feast, it took her days to make
Weekly celebration for us to take
