this was a quick one. the bridge is still in the works, but i really wanted to get a demo of this down, so here you have it, just me and my keyboard.
Story behind the song
written over the course of about 2 or 3 days, except the bridge which still isn't quite finished yet; originally just written for tension release, it's now being considered for my next musical theatre writing project.
Lyrics
i went to the harbor and i saw you standing there,
wind falling through your hair and you lowered your eyes; and, the autumn mist cooled your blushing cheek, you smiled so cute - so meek - and lifted your eyes; and we slowly walked away as leaves and tides swirled and you lightly hung my world on your little fingers and you let me hold your hand, you let me kiss you and i never missed you and your little fingers.
and our civil war rent my world from fear and cast it too the sea, and you washed over me and wrapped my dirty wounds under the stars of your love.
and you walked away from me,
cited differences artistically.
no...
you cracked your broken smile and i beared my broken heart, tied, twisted, torn apart, left stunned and screaming for comfort in kisses and nights filled with laughter and the mornings after when you made me breakfast.
and our uncivil war bleeds a bloody bath of love, and our hearts lay bruised and torn; we fight and dance without taking a step at all.
i went to the harbor and i saw you standing there,
wind falling through your hair and you lowered your eyes.
