Story behind the song
This song was recorded by most of the members of Underground Angel. I played all the guitar parts, Keri sang, Matt played Bass, and we are still waiting on the majic of Dave's drums. One of our members has an issue with being called a "toy" on the weekends he is a soldier. Thus the reason the song is here, instead of with the rest of Underground Angel's songs. I was on active duty in the US Army for seven years. I WAS a "toy" soldier, doing everything I was told, to the best of my ability. My oldest son is a Marine. Stationed in Japan at the time this was writen, but on orders for deployment. I have nothing but respect for the American service men and women and the job they are doing. May they all come home safely, and may they never have to do it again.
Lyrics
Little toy soldiers Lined up across the floor A little boy playing His armys gone to war A little boy playing In a room in a big white house As little boy soldiers are ordered to move out Courage, honor loyalty are all just words to him Words he uses to describe all the little men And in his mind The price can't be too high Just get another one when a little toy soldier dies He can't hear their mothers Crying in the night As the little boy soldiers Go off the join the fight Safe inside his room They march across the boards Just little toy soldiers Fighting in a war He takes his casualties and lines them by the wall Just another broken toy, a toy that gave his all If you ask him what the fight is for He fights for peace and liberty and he fights because its war He can't hear their mothers Crying in the night As the little boy soldiers Go off the join the fight Safe inside his room They march across the boards Just little toy soldiers Fighting in a war I wonder if he knew the toys were really men Would he find another way or start a war again He can't hear their mothers Crying in the night As the little boy soldiers Go off the join the fight Safe inside his room They march across the boards Just little toy soldiers Fighting in a war
