Welcome to my midlife crisis. I spent the greater part of my 20's in a band called Blue Collar that played in and around Nashville in the 80's, with my brother . I figured I had a few songs left in me, so I thought I'd record them and post them here.

Story behind the song
Life will bring us many hardships, but Christ has promised to restore us in his kingdom. A song that uses a conversation with a childhood friend (who is presently suffering) as a springboard to a discussion about how one day God will wipe away every tear from every eye. This is a pretty long song with many twists and turns - we'll call it an "Epic" for lack of a better word.
Lyrics
My old friend, do you remember childhood summer days Playing in the creeks and fields behind our neighborhood? Playing ball, or maybe re-fighting World War II, slaying dragons Ahhh, the summer breeze could feel so good… On and on we’d run beneath the summer sun. The heat was tough, but our will to play was tougher. We never grew tired; we’d just go till sundown Or till our moms called us home for supper. My old friend, it seems that life has been unkind And it breaks my heart to see you suffering this way. And I know, you say it’s not that bad for you But I see your strength is growing dimmer day by day On and on one day slips into another All the doctors have to offer you is alking’ Your body is broken, but your spirit’s still free; And if you had your way I know you’d be walking. But we know that’s not the end of the story That shell that you’ve been livin’ in ain’t you. When Jesus takes us all into his glory I want to be there when he makes all things new. That means us, too. Chorus: We will run and play in the fields of the Lord Like the children that we used to be And we’ll be lost in abandon In the fields of the Lord Till we hear a sweet, sweet voice calling us home Carried by the heavenly breeze. On and on the people of the world feel hunger. It’s so tempting to cry out “It’s just not fair!” While the wicked seem to grow wealthy and stronger So many are trapped in poverty, cancer wards and wheelchairs But we know that’s not the end of the story. This world that we’ve been livin in ain’t home. When Jesus takes us all into his glory He will wipe away our tears before his throne. We’ll all be whole. Chorus.
