Story behind the song
Kimberly lobbied fiercely for this song to be recorded as the cover song included on the Believe Album, but I opted for Imagine, as I was hesitant to do two songs on consecutive albums written by the same artist (U2’s With or Without You was recorded on Stand and Fall). I promised that I would include it on the project which became 1vox1gtr. This song, which was written about the violence in Northern Ireland during the late 70’s and early 80’s is profoundly appropriate during this period in which the American Government has chosen to maintain an Imperialistic occupation of another nation, all under the guise of “democracy”, but in truth a thinly veiled invasion designed to fatten American contractors and oil companies. “And today the children cry, we eat and drink while tomorrow they die. . .”
