Story behind the song
I always enjoyed the little druumer boy story as a child. And this is a new take on some Christmas folklore.
Lyrics
My father told them, that there was no room If they had no money to pay And put them out under a Bethlehem moon A man and his woman laden with babe On to the next, but the rooms were all full And everyone turned them away No where to go with a child on the way Only a stable with manger and hay CHORUS I was the son of the innkeeper’s son There on the first holy night I saw the baby surrounded by kings And a star up above shining bright There in the silence, where no one could see I said a prayer in the night And I felt a presence I could not believe Soothing, but powerful, holding me tight CHORUS BRIDGE Still I am haunted by quilt and from shame When my father told them to go They only wanted a single night’s stay But how could he even have known CHORUS TWICE-OUT
