Story behind the song
I wanted to write something in a rock vein after writing a few softer songs.
Lyrics
WHO GIVES A DAMN
CHORUS
Who gives a damn that I feel lonely?
No one, I guess, since if anyone would
She’d hold my hand, tell me I was the only One who made her feel so good.
Who cares at all that I’ve been so downhearted? The world sure seems like its so big and cruel.
That’s why my actions look careful and guarded, Oppressed by too-stringent rules.
VERSE
I had to leave my former town. Circumstances made me drown
In a sea of selfish misery.
So here I seek a grand rebirth,
Hoping to gain some self-worth,
Striving to reach mediocrity.
CHORUS
VERSE
I really hope this is the place
Where I can reside in grace.
I could surely use tranquility.
If once again I’m left alone
I would have to make my own --
But I’d love a shared stability.
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Well, it’s tough without a friend Whom, if I needed to, I could rely on --
Particularly when that time is now!
VERSE
I wish I knew the words to say
So I could go without delay
To make connections, ask a woman out.
Because each time I try to speak
What emerges but a squeak
Is it any wonder that I pout?
CHORUS
