VERSE 1
Somethin’ was awfully wrong with me,
Never happy when I should be,
Felt restless in my soul,
Why was I feelin’ low? Think I lost the will of self-control.
VERSE 2
I found the need to roam,
So I left my gal alone,
By playing a fool’s game,
I won loneliness, all I won was loneliness and pain.
CHORUS
I circled the world and got no where,
And the biways just made me sad,
Always heading for somewhere,
Never finding the love I had,
Etched in my memory,
She was certainly unique,
The girl I deserted,
Back home in Shelter Creek.
VERSE 3
Now Shelter Creek is quiet and small,
Town folk never build any walls,
Good neighbors wave with a smile,
Leaves you feeling warm, makes you warm and fuzzy inside.
VERSE 4
I returned in the summer time,
Ran into that love of mine,
I saw the tears in her eyes,
Rollin’ down her face, rollin’ as I said “hi”.
BRIDGE
“How long will you be in town?” (she said…)
That was the first thing on her mind,
“Will you be stickin’ around?”
And I said “yeah, I plan to make up for the past.”
(Repeat Chorus)
TAG
I’m so glad to be back in Shelter Creek.
