Story behind the song
This is a song about the tragedy in Iraq.
I remember the speech of the former Iraqi Foreign Minister at the UN. He was talking in Arabic and I could not understand a word he was saying. But I could understand that he was telling the truth and somehow I could feel the helplessness he was feeling. Later I read somewhere, that he was telling that there were no weapons of mass destruction in his country and that he was almost begging the world community to stop the coming violence against his country.
If there are politicians speaking, if there are adults, especially male adults lying death, our projudices still effect our conception. We take sides the way we are thought, or the way our friends, our society thinks. It takes a television scene of a death child lying at the debris of a building to bring us back to the reality, to the violence and unjustness of the world. (I have nothing to tell to the ones, who still continue to have their prejudices at the sight of a death child)
This is also a song about the relation of media and the reality. Remember, with enough propaganda, German nation -normally well educated and reasonable people- voted 92% to the Nazis. And I personally doubt the differences in the motivations of todays media tycoons and Gobbels.
