the Discworld's Santa, all metaled up
guitarist recording album at home. Mostly instrumental rock, but I'm hoping to sing soon.
electric guitarist and hobbyist musician in the process of recording an album in my apartment with a Macintosh.
Story behind the song
another KVR contest, this one called "Oblique Night", where they wanted "darkness in the festival of lights". However, I didn't want to do anything really depressing (I have some respect for the sanctity of the season). I figured a metal version of "Jingle Bells", transposed in D Minor, would give something of the right feel. The lyrics are based on a character created by Terry Pratchett in his "Discworld" novels called The Hogfather, who's an anthropomorphic personage based on old Kris Kringle but with some differences (check the lyrics).

Lyrics
"In a fast sleigh pulled by boars, he's soaring through the skies,
Gets in your house at Hogswatchnight and eats all your pork pies!
Bad kids get bloody bones, good ones get lots of toys,
What scary gruesome winter fun for all the girls and boys!
"Oh, Hogfather, Hogfather! flying through the air,
Adults all keep a wary eye, but the kids know why you care, HEY!
Pigs in flight, Hogswatchnight, charity's your game...
You're an anthropomorphic personage but we love you just the same! (2x)"
