Pimpinella consists of two people that want to rock. Period. A molotov cocktail of driving guitar riffs, pounding drums and punk rock melodies create the Canadian powerhouse known as Pimpinella! The band was formed in Toronto in the summer of 2000 by guitarist/singer/songwriter Esma. After several unsuccessful band line-ups, Esma finally found drummer Ziggy Sweet and the band decided to remain a two-piece. And it seems to have been the right decision, because every time Pimpinella plays live, people can't help but be intrigued and impressed by the energy and raw power this dynamic duo possesses and puts forth. Pimpinella takes its sound from a variety of influneces. Rooted in old school punk, Pimpinella has been warped and mangled by the sounds of classic rock, metal, new wave and emo-core. They listen to everything: The Clash, Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, Ramones, Go-Go's, Husker Du, Motley Crue, Thin Lizzy, Girlschool, Iron Maiden, Napalm Death, Downset, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Faith No More, Nirvana, L7, The Donnas...Their sound is their own--you can't really describe them. Pimpinella rocks and that's about it!

Story behind the song
This song was originally about my friend's cat...she's big, fluffy and orange and one day while jamming, she started meowing, so I just started playing this crazy song about her -- "Fluffy, fluffy orange girl!" Then from there it evolved into a real song.
Lyrics
Orange Girl went out west Her life was one big mess Orange Girl had to get away To sunny Californ-I-A She rode a train from Tennessee Far from home to follow a dream Now she's broke but free Orange Girl knew one thing People had to hear her sing She wrote a song so long ago About a life she used to know She walks down those broken streets Empty promises at her feet Searching for her destiny She eats oranges she picks herself Counts on her and no one else Tries hard to be a good girl Orange Girl you rock my world Orange Girl went out west Her life was one big mess Orange Girl had to get away To sunny Californ-I-A One day she gave up hope And her world went up in smoke Now she's sad and broke Orange Girl, you rock my world Orange Girl, who-oh-oh I love you Orange Girl
