The Other Side of Last Chance
Comment Share
This is a song about a bar band passing through a small town east of Denver, where they get stuck for years playing at the local lounge. Not to be confused, of course, with real life.

BadDogs plays a blend of Rocky Mountain twang, electric dieselbilly & country acoustic marinated in a little latin salsa.
BadDogs is a group based out of the Colorado Springs area that plays a blend of acoustic & electric Rocky Mountain country music. We've just released our second album called 'Sit! Stay!' and it's starting to get airplay all over the state. Several of the songs on that album will be on this site for your enjoyment. We hope you like them.

Story behind the song
It's based on a real town in Colorado called Last Chance, but it's also a somewhat metaphorical reference to a state of mind consisting primarily of resignation and despair. A real up tune...
Lyrics
Just a couple of Juke Joint Johnnies At the Nirvana Motel We’re picking for drinks four nights in a row Acting more like Dime Store Donnies With nothing to sell Just the other side of Last Chance for broken souls We’re looking to leave when we round us up a buck We’re looking to leave when we scrounge us up some luck We try to believe there’s more than one way out Been passing through this prairie town And on our way down this road For more years now than I know how to say We never figured on what it would take To lighten up our load We never knew what it would cost us to stay We’re fixing to leave when we can find us the way We’re fixing to keep our desperation at bay We’re selling what’s left of our souls here every day We’ll grab a couple of Blank Stare Babies At the Nirvana Motel And wake up tomorrow with just a hint of regret It doesn’t seem to make much difference If we give or we take It doesn’t seem to matter what we forgive or forget To keep us from screaming we’re burning down the night To keep us from dreaming we never turn out the light It’s hard to deny now we’re losing our sight
