Bruce Bressack and Jeff McDonald
family acoustic piano pop
Artist picture
Acoustic/Piano songs that capture the emotion and spirit that resonates within all of our families.
Bruce Bressack has been writing and recording music since the early 60's. The family has been a source for many of his compositions --- from the song Canada (written about his cousin who left the U.S. during the Vietnam War), to the song Family of Mine (written about broken relationships), his songs attempt to capture the emotion and spirit that resonates within all of our families (for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, until, well, you know the rest).

Story behind the song
Bruces Comments - In 1997, my old friend (and former music partner Jeff McDonald) sent me his CD of original instrumental recordings. Jeff is one of the finest guitarists I have known and played/recorded with. When I first heard his song Buckaroozer, it cried out for words. As a gift to Jeff, I wrote the lyrics the night before he and his family visited with us during their trip to New England. The vocal track was recorded over the guitar track (in my home studio) in June, 1998. Jeffs Comments - Buckaroozer was the baby nick name for my 2nd son, Kyle. Noozle Fish was Seans, and Boogwatt was Ryans. Buckaroozer was my first composition in DADDAD, a tuning inspired by Steve Stills Suite Judy Blue Eyes, 4&20, Carry On, etc. I was a recording intern at Criteria Studios in Miami during the Stills Manassis sessions and learned the tuning from him. Buckaroozer just flowed out, took all of 30 minutes to get the basics down, a little longer to perfect. Still the one I play to demonstrate the tuning.
Lyrics
In this time of ours, we wonder where the years have gone. In this time of ours, we wonder why the roads so long. You can believe in your own song. You can believe in your own dreams. In this time of ours, we raise our families to be strong. In this time of ours, we see the future from a shooting star. When will it be our time again. You can believe in your own dreams. In this time of ours, the past is part of who we've become. In this time of ours, the memories carry us along. It's part of who we are. It's why weve come this far. It's part of who we are.
