Story behind the song
This song is primarily up to record my 19th Century piano before it enters surgery... The Grand Piano was made by John Brinsmead & Sons, London, in late 1880 and exported to Australia, we think to capitalise on a promotional concert tour at about the same time. Although promoted on that tour as a "concert grand", and although much larger than a baby grand, at 6'+, the strings are still short of a full size concert grand. It was rescued from a barn in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, in the mid-1960s. Other than hammer felts, the piano is entirely original. After years of faithful service since its first rescue, it is starting another slow odyssey of reconditioning. The initial pieces available for download (December 2004) have been recorded prior to any significant re-working of the action or re-stringing.
Lyrics
Started as a song, but its intro went off and had a song of its own, so this one stayed instrumental.
