A song about placing too much importance on fame
We're playing a mixture of rock-fusion-world-jazz
The samples are demos of the songs to provide an idea of the range of sound. Session players were used for this recording. There is no permanent lead singer right now, so the vocalist (me) is not a true vocalist.
Story behind the song
Celebrity failures and reality shows inviting everyone to make a fool of themselves in order to get 15 minutes of fame. Our idols are just people like us.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Thanks for the praise and the flowers that you sent me, sure I’ll sign your breast if that’s the place where you want it, ‘cause when you’re a star, that’s the way that I got it, you could be mine if I choose to act on it
Sure they’ll say I’m famous whether I’m a star or a rapist, but at the end of the day, baby, I am just a man
Verse 2
At the end of the game I’ll expect to find you waiting, faster than “The Flash” that’s the rep. that I’m claiming, I’m the jock of the year, the big man on campus, why don’t you come to my room and I’ll give you what you’re wanting
It’s like I’m living so large that it’s getting hard to fake it, why doesn’t anyone seem to know that I am just a man?
Bridge
Big diamonds, thick furs, fine watches and pearls, big contracts and “peeps,” armed guards while I sleep
Big scandals and flings, got sex tapes and kids, too much chaos and lies, but see the truth in my eyes
Believe what you want and see how far it’ll get you, just flesh and bone that’s the stuff that I’m made of, you can break-in my house, you can stalk me if you want to, but at the end of the day, baby, I am just a man
Verse 3
Can I count on your vote, I’m your favorite politician, although I haven’t done a thing to make your life worth living, just give me chance, and I’ll surely disappoint you, that’s the way the game is, I’ll get mine and you’ll get nothing
You can scream or you can cheer, but you’re the one who put me here, and I’ll say it again, baby, I am just a man, I am just a man…
