Make It Home Alive

This tune is about a trucker on his way home to the Rockies from the east coast, as seen through a bug-spattered windshield.

BadDogs plays a blend of Rocky Mountain twang, electric dieselbilly & country acoustic marinated in a little latin salsa.
BadDogs is a group based out of the Colorado Springs area that plays a blend of acoustic & electric Rocky Mountain country music. We've just released our second album called 'Sit! Stay!' and it's starting to get airplay all over the state. Several of the songs on that album will be on this site for your enjoyment. We hope you like them.

Story behind the song
This is just a driving song about a guy that lives to see the Front Range peaks on the horizon.
Lyrics
Heading westward through the wheat fields Turn south at Denver The Colorado Rockies always make it worth the drive Rolling miles up in the highlands Gave up the shore and beach sand I got my family to help me to survive I just hope I make it home alive Used to be I was a sailor on the nightwatch Cruising through the dark expanse Free of earthly entanglements Navigating a loose constellation of dying stars Hum of power, lazy and lonely Nothing to do but think of home Nothing at home but dreams of the road Feels like I’ve been on this blacktop ribbon forever Mile markers count the minutes till I’m Turning up the volume on the XM Listen to my storied past Like the lights that flicker too fast And the rain that gets wiped from my window Skirt the city limits in the daytime Barrel down the Interstate Jam the man before it’s too late Looking for that Front Range skyline Morning sun crowds my mirrors and tells me that I’m
